The CCPForge site is now available to all CCP development projects, their developers and users. Please use the link on the right to access the site.

This project is funded by JISC to address one of the recommendations of the CCP Review carried out in 2003/4 by Robert Harrison of Oak Ridge National Laboratory USA.  That the CCP Programme

"Establish a common SourceForge-like resource, initially, just for the CCPs, but eventually for the wider CCP community".

Such a facility would address the following specific goals identified by the review:
  • To adopt more extensive, flexible and easy-to -use methods consistently across the whole CCP community for the continued development and maintenance of codes, using an open-source collaboration model.
  • To convert and update codes as necessary to encourage cross-fertilisation between different sections of the community, and to facilitate long-term maintenance and collaborative development.
The basic elements of the project are:
  • Review requirements for a SourceForge type environment.
  • Consider possible software solutions against requirements and review possible technologies.
  • Installation of selected software solution on server.
  • Customisation of basic structure and interfaces to meet CCP requirements.
  • Implementation of backup and recovery process.
  • Deployment for the community including migration of data.
A Requirements Workshop was organised to assess the needs of the CCPs for this facility on Tuesday 7th March 2006.  Further details on the programme, presentations and outcomes can be found here.

The progress of the project was reported to the CCPs on 18 October 2006 and details of the meeting can be found here.
